The next step was making the wood cutout for the false transom that would be installed inside the boat.
Next, the false transom that was made from masonite needed to be waxed so that the fiberglass that would be laminated over it would not stick. I applied 4 coats of canuba wax. You can see how shinny the wood was after the waxing.
The next step was laminating the 3 layers of fiberglass onto the false transom. I was not to worried about appearance here because this section would be installed on the inside of the transom once completed.
While the transom was setting up, I moved on to filling an area along the lower section of the transom that needed a place to bond the new transom wall once installed. I layered 2 sections of fiberglass tape to fill the void and give me a strong area to bond the wall to when installed.
The next step was working the laminated transom wall into place. This was a bit tricky but did not take too long to put into place. Then I trimmed the excess fiberglass around the laminated section.
